If you do not already know of the work of Helle Jorgensen, it's high time that you get on board and take note of her amazing Crochet Sea Creatures and captivating Beach Detritus Collection. The Australian horticulturalist and former research geneticist combs local beaches and coves for inspirational organic treasures and non-biodegradable cast-offs. Her Cephalopod and Polypod forms, pictured above, are crocheted, knitted, and embroidered from reused plastic bags. They are a marvel in 'form follows refunctioning', as discarded refuse draws attention to the fragility and disposable plight of ocean species and their habitats.
