Seasonal Shades Preview

My fiber enviro-book project, Seasonal Shades, is finally ready to travel out west to THE LAND/an art site's gallery in Albuquerque, NM. 'Opening a Book' opens on Saturday, April 4, from 6pm - 9pm. I am still not sure if I will attend the opening, but I am so pleased that my work will be in such good company, regardless.

'Make Something' Fiber Happening

Such a fun time last night at the 'Make Something' happening as part of Global Fabrics and Common Threads. Congratulations to all of the talented artists involved, particularly Brece Honeycutt for putting an urban spin on hand spindle technology and raw fiber.

Ecoartspace Takes Root in Soho

Such exciting news that ecoartspace has officially opened its doors to the public one day a week in Soho. "Founded in 1997 by Tricia Watts as an art and nature center in development, ecoartspace was one of the first websites online dedicated to art and environmental issues. New York City curator Amy Lipton joined Watts in 1999, and together they have curated numerous exhibitions, participated on panels, given lectures at universities, developed programs and curricula, and written essays for publications from both the East and West Coasts. They advocate for international artists whose projects range from scientifically based ecological restoration to product based functional artworks, from temporal works created outdoors with nature to eco-social interventions in the urban public sphere, as well as more traditional art objects."

Visit the ecoartspace blog for updates on exhibits, events, and collaborations. You can join the ecoartspace community on FaceBook as well.

Do not miss this great MNN interview with Amy Lipton and Simon Draper regarding the Habitat For Artists exhibition and future ecoartspace endeavors.

Motion Blur American Craft

Don't miss Motion Blur American Craft via Sabrina Gschwandnter

" Motion Blur – American Craft is an exhibition of contemporary American crafts. It has been initiated and produced by Gustavsbergs Konsthall with the aim of updating our understanding of American art crafts from a Scandinavian perspective. The exhibition presents items by seven prominent American artists whose work touches upon sculpture, pictorial art, crafts and installations. A common denominator is a strong relationship with handwork at the same time that their approach to different craft traditions oscillates between esteem and lack of respect."
