All of the various components, textures, and tinctures are organically coming together for Tumbleweed Colony, a Sewing Seeds fundraiser at the Wythe Hotel on Thursday, May 7.

Please enjoy some of our process images as well as the distillation of materials we are tinting and tumbling for this unique gathering. Tickets are still available here.

We also thrilled to officially be listed as an event for NYC x Design 2015.

Tumbleweed Colony | Flotsam Orb in progress | Abigail Doan ( 2015)

Please save-the-date for an upcoming installation project that I am creating in conjunction with the Textile Art Center (TAC)'s Sewing Seeds fundraiser for 2015.

'Tumbleweed Colony' is a site-specific gathering that will include contributors such as Sasha Duerr of the Permacouture Institute, Lily Piyathaisere of Gamma Folk, Arian Franz of The Greater Goods, Kathleen Dycaico of Gutter Rat Dyeing Co., data artist Annelie Berner, natural dye sponsor, Botanical Colors, and plant stylist, Forage + Sundry.

The event will take place from 7pm to 11pm on Thursday, May 7 in the Main Hall of the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Tickets may be purchased in advance here.

Materials and process images will be shared throughout April and May, as I fabricate a colony of one-of-a-kind flotsam orbs and naturally-dyed machine-knit forms created with the assistance and expertise of TAC's textile community.

I will also host open studio hours at TAC Manhattan's West 8th Street location on April 13, 20, as well as on Earth Day, April 22, 2015. Details about these dates are available here

Drift in and tumble with us. It's a whole new frontier for natural dyes.
